The Department of Anatomy at our medical college is dedicated to delivering high-quality education that enables students to understand the human body’s structure in depth. The primary goal is to help students comprehend the normal disposition, inter-relationships, gross, functional, and applied anatomy of various body structures. Students will learn to identify microscopic structures of tissues and organs and correlate them with their functions—an essential foundation for understanding the altered states seen in disease processes. The curriculum also covers the basic structure and connections within the central nervous system, allowing students to analyze its integrative and regulatory roles across organ systems. A strong emphasis is placed on embryology, including genetic inheritance and the stages of organ and system development from conception to birth. Students will also gain insight into the critical stages of normal development and the impact of common teratogens, genetic mutations, and environmental factors on fetal growth.

By the end of the course, students will be able to describe basic anatomical terminology, general and system-based anatomy, and the functional and clinical relevance of anatomical structures. They will understand principles of imaging and microscopy, correlate cross-sectional anatomy with organ structure, and explain nervous system function and its clinical implications. Additionally, they will grasp the basic concepts of embryology, the embryological basis of developmental anomalies, and the fundamentals of medical genetics. In the psychomotor domain, students will be able to identify and handle anatomical structures in proper orientation, palpate and locate organs, operate a light microscope, and correlate microscopic anatomy with organ function. In the affective domain, students will be encouraged to treat cadavers with respect and dignity, work effectively as part of a team, show respect toward faculty, engage in self-directed learning, understand professional conduct, and adhere to the institution’s dress code and discipline standards.
