Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at MGM Medical College and Hospital, Panvel, has evolved from the renowned MGM Hospital for Women & Children, established in 1991. It stands as a cornerstone of comprehensive women’s healthcare, education, and clinical training. The department comprises a team of 10 experienced specialists dedicated to maternal and reproductive health. Outpatient services are available on all working days, supported by specialty clinics including Antenatal, Postnatal, High-Risk Pregnancy, Infertility, Adolescent Health, Menopause, Family Planning, Endocrine Disorders, and Cancer Screening. Diagnostic procedures such as Pap smears and endometrial biopsies are routinely performed. The department manages all types of labor—normal, complicated, and operative—offering services like vaginal delivery, caesarean section, and instrumental delivery. It is equipped to perform both open and laparoscopic gynaecological surgeries including hysterectomy, myomectomy, and cystectomy. The infrastructure includes an OPD with three dedicated chambers, a well-equipped operation theatre with three surgical tables, and a labor room with four labor tables and emergency beds. Inpatient care is supported by 50 general beds and 3 beds in the High Dependency Unit (HDU). The department plays a pivotal role in medical education and patient care, offering hands-on training and exposure to a broad range of clinical scenarios. With a strong emphasis on quality, safety, and empathy, the department continues to serve as a vital part of the institution’s mission.
